Carole Gething House, based in Small Heath Birmingham, provides fully supported accommodation to single homeless young people aged 16-25 years.
Accommodation is provided in the form of 24 self-contained rooms each comprising of a large bed sitting room which is fully furnished and is internet and telephone ready. Each resident has their own kitchen and shower room. There is a communal laundry in each of the three blocks. The project has a fully fitted ICT training and community room enabling the young people to access internet use and see audio visual presentations to prepare CV's, prepare for interviews and carry out jobsearches. This communal facility is also the venue for weekly Art sessions also gives young people a space to socialise and build further on their life skills and training.
Young people can stay with us here for up to 2 years, with an additional floating support package to enable them to succeed in their new tenancy.
The support worker will work with the young person to put together a bespoke support package which can be revisited as progress is made. Staff/key workers can assist with money management and assist young people with budget plans, advice and guidance about healthy eating and shopping and cooking on a limited income.
All residents also have access to St Basils support services including Learning Skills and Work service, Youth Involvement schemes, Prevention Services, schools training and mentoring project (STaMP) and Floating Support services.
