Paul Farrow - Chief Executive Birmingham Law Society

I was humbled to find that, with Gift Aid, my supporters raised just over £1800 in the end, which I was delighted with... I will be happy to consider doing it again next/this year if it is decided to repeat the exercise; it certainly is a noble cause.

Best wishes and congratulations to all.

Freddie Gick - Birmingham Civic Society

Like most other people, I participated in the Sleepout after an invitation from Nick Venning. Despite most friends thinking I was mad to attempt to do it, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and even managed to get some sleep - all while raising some well deserved funds for a critically important charity. Well done everyone involved for an extremely well organised event.

It was a great event and really well organised. The only disappointing thing for some of my sponsors is that it did not rain. I am sure they were hoping for me to suffer a little more discomfort. (Mind you the bloke in the next box to me snored like a foghorn).

It was a great evening. Thank you for your hospitality! Having spent the last hour trying to re-pack the sleeping bag, and re-roll the groundsheet, I have had a good deal of time to reflect on the experience, whilst cursing. You are right, the weather was too kind to us. We got off lightly, your young people do not.

Whilst reflecting, I thought that I would like to see the shelter, and then, heh presto! your offer that we can do that. Please forward to whoever would organise such a trip my email details. Thank you and David for the construction job that you did for me. Abiding memory? Looking up at an oblong of sky created by the tall buildings. Seeing the clouds pouring past, and the stars appearing and disappearing as the clouds thickened and diminished. Magic to see that in the City.

David Clarke - David Clarke Associates

I just wanted to write and say a big thank you for the excellent organisation at the sleep out last Friday. As Nick Venning said in his note, we got off lightly both in terms of weather and temperature and in truth, I think it was perhaps a little too lightly.

Your team did a sterling job both in terms of facilities and organisation and, despite the car park surface being somewhat hard, it was a pleasure to take part.

I know that you are now busy organising the next event. I am sure it will be every bit as successful.

Thank you again - and do keep up the very good work.

Jason Norris - Delloitte

"The city Sleepout was a fantastic way to highlight the invaluable work undertaken by St Basils. Spending a night in a cardboard box is not everyone's idea of fun, but it does bring the point home that some young people don't have that choice.

While the experience was not a comfortable one, it was entirely worthwhile, and has given me a new perspective on how the homeless live. I thank St Basil's for organising the event, and hope that their work continues for a long time yet."

Sarah Gee - Indigo

"Thanks for that. It was an extraordinary night and people are still talking about it in the corporate community: as someone said to me earlier “you slept rough so they don’t have to”. Kinda summed it up!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at St Basils for making the experience such fun for all of us. Everyone involved in the admin, catering, security, and the loo guard (!) were absolutely brilliant and made us feel very cared for and safe. If you manage even half of that for your young people, they are in good hands."

Simon Tupper - Redcliffe Caterers

“I believe in helping the homeless and in previous times have decorated homes for a charity.I came to the Corporate Sleep Out as I was asked by Lisa Holden of CH Marketing and it also compliments my corporate social responsibility role in terms of the business.”

Badgers set In the corner

'Jake’ our concierge for the night. Junior Clerk at St Ives.

“ I am a volunteer for the night with responsibility of looking after the St Ives building. St Ives Chambers donated the car-park as the venue with access to power and toilet facilities. I did know about St Basils and wanted to help out. I am helping with the mulled wine and anything else that needs doing.”

James Rock – Cultivar Consultants.

"I came because Nick Venning invited me as I am a member of the Thrive Forum. Living in the city centre I am always bumping into beggars looking for a bed for the night. This is a good CSR opportunity.

Judy Dyke – Tyndalwoods

"I came because Nick Venning asked me to. I have been involved with St Basils over the years. There are around 90 of us at Tyndalwoods and I hope to bring a lot more next time and some volunteers to help."

"I already did fundraisings things like the abseiling. But its more interesting when an event makes you think and brings home the message. We are doing this for one night but some people have to do this for real"

Richard Evans – Mechatronic Production Systems

"I did it for a night under the sky. ‘Evans under the Heavens’. I’ve been watching the weather forcast and it doesn’t look too bad. I love the purpose of the event, it’s a bit of fun, for a great charity, it is about raising awareness. It also means I am helping other people."

Dave Pennock – Eclipse Spayers (Haws Watering Cans)

“We’ve picked a lucky night. Some kids are sleeping out there with hardly any of the gear that we have with us. This makes me really think how lucky we are."
