Bake Off 2013
It's almost that time of year again... St Basils next Bake Off will be taking place during September 2013!
This is the time of year when we ask you to 'Bake for young people's Sake'. Nationally youth homelessness is on the rise and locally we've seen more of the younger age group presenting as homeless. 
Most 16 and 17 year olds do not have the skills needed to live independently successfully in terms of being able to provide for or look after themselves.
A part from care leavers, the majority of young people who come to live with us, do so because of a crisis situation in their lives. These circumstances unfortunately sometimes cause young people to drop out of education or lose their jobs. Being in crisis and having such upheaval can often also cause a massive loss of confidence. 
We run life skills courses and bespoke education and training courses through-out our 28 supported accommodation projects to help rebuild confidence in a safe environment and teach young people the skills they will need to live independently so that they can move on successfully.
Bake off has a serious purpose but is intended as a fun fundraiser that the whole family can get involved in. Last year you raised over £10,000 to help our young people get their lives back on track. Thank you so much!
This year we are planning to hold two competitions. You will be entered into our prize draw if you hold a Bake Sale to raise funds to help our young people. You can check out last year's winners here. This year there will also be a competition for the best photo. We will provide more details nearer the time. If you would like to be notified once details are released please fill in our Bake Off 2013 contact form, alternatively, with the help of local bakeries and restaurants, we will once again be launching this year's Bake Off in the grounds of St Philips cathedral just off Colmore Row, Birmingham during the first week of September (2nd-6th, 11am-3pm) - look out for the St Basils Gazebo and come and find out more about this year's Bake Off!
