Harvest festival and Christmas may be over but donations of food (either fresh or long life), toiletries and towels amongst other items are always very much welcomed by our emergency accommodation projects.
Young people who have contacted Youthline for help and have no where else to go can stay at emergency projects whilst staff look into more permanent options.
Jula Brady, Manager of the St Basils emergency project for young women said; "Some of these girls are as young as 16 and increasingly they come to us with nothing but the clothes they're standing up in, they're often tired and anxious.. having a meal, a warm shower with shampoo or shower gel and then getting into a warm bed, really does make all the difference".
How you can help us:
We are in need of the following donations for emergency care :
- Food (fresh or long-life but they cannot be past their Use-by date)
- Unused toiletries
(Eg. Shampoo, Shower Gel, Deodorant, Sanitary products, toothpaste) - Clean or new Towels (all sizes)
After 3 months, young people are moved on to the most suitable form of accommodation for their needs. Young people in this situation have very few of their own possesions and therefore need Starter Packs of household items. In particular they require their own bedding.
Therefore we are also in need of:
- New bedding (Sheets, Duvet covers etc)
- Pots and pans
- Cutlery, plates. glasses etc
Donations can be dropped off at our Head Office in Birmingham, from Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
