Long term supporter raises funds through book sales

Glyn Pitchford, a well know businessman in Birmingham and former senior partner at James & Lister Lea, will kindly be donating £1 from every sale of his new book “Journey to Majorca” to St Basils.

The book, which was launched earlier this month at the Birmingham Press Club, describes how the author discovers a hidden Majorca after buying a secluded house in the Tramuntana Mountains between Chopin's Valldemossa and bohemian Deia. It is a humourous account of some Majorcan characters he meets and the adventures he tumbles into with his two young grandchildren whilst holidaying on the island. The book tells a journey through the author’s life, recounting an unsettled childhood in Sheffield and relative security in Birmingham.

The book also mentions Glyn’s work within the voluntary sector. Glyn was a member of the

St Basils fundraising committee and continues to be a huge supporter of our charity. He even talks about the work of St Basils in his book and about his experiences of the fundraising events that he took part in to raise money, including the St Basils BIG SleepOut and a ‘Jail Break’ event.

Speaking about why he wanted to help support St Basils further with this book, Glyn said ‘I admire the work the charity does in helping people who, largely through no fault of their own, find themselves cast out, virtually rudderless, in need of caring support - St Basils does this well.’

“Journey to Majorca” is priced at £12 (+ P&P), £1 of which will be donated to St Basils and a further £1 donated to Birmingham Civic society, and can be ordered at www.glynpitchford.co.uk . The book is also available on Amazon and in bookstores.

It’s an original, honest and witty read and thoroughly recommended. For more information on Glyn Pitchford and his book “Journey to Majorca” visit www.glynpitchford.co.uk.
