NYRG young people complete interactive community awareness course

28 young people from NYRG have successfully completed the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) e-learning course ‘The Role of The Community Representative’. This past year the National Youth Reference Group (NYRG) which St Basils co-ordinates has worked alongside TPAS to give every member of NYRG the chance to complete the OCN accredited level two course as a thank you for all their hard work and dedication. Learners had two weeks to complete the intensive online course which aimed to provide a flexible approach for young people from all around the country. Learners worked through the course online by engaging in forum debates, quizzes, examining case studies and completing assignments.

Working in close partnership with organisations in Newcastle, Leeds, London, Kent, Essex and many others staff delivered one-to-one and group sessions to ensure NYRG young people got the most out of the e-learning course.

One young person from NYRG said of the course: “I enjoyed the interaction that I could have with the other people on the course, that we could share ideas and talk about the stuff that we were doing and how much of a difference you can actually make…It was a relevant course and I am glad that NYRG put me on to it” - Mariam (Leeds NYRG)

There will be one final opportunity in the next few weeks for all young people from NYRG to complete the course.
