NEW HEAD OF FUNDRAISING AT ST BASILS
The challenge is to raise over half a million pounds!
News Release 01:14/04/2010
Lucy Hackett who currently lives in Halesowen, near Birmingham recently joined St Basils as the new Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships, with the immediate challenge to raise over half a million pounds.

Lucy has a wide range of experience in marketing, starting her career in blue chip companies such as npower and Legal & General and also with experience in smaller financial service companies and a local marketing agency. She brings a wealth of new expertise to the St Basils role of Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships.
Previously employed as the Recruitment Marketing Manager for West Midlands Police, she was responsible for all police and police staff recruitment campaigns, events and local partnerships projects.
Why did Lucy choose St Basils?
“I had been familiar with St Basils for some time and had supported the charity with the Starter Pack campaign whilst working at Legal & General Insurance in Birmingham. I have always been so impressed with how St Basils supports young people not only find and keep a home but to actively help change young peoples lives by inspiring and developing them to aspire and achieve. St Basils really is a charity that is constantly evolving and always looking to find ways to improve its service to young people. It’s both a rewarding and exciting place to be and I am thrilled to be appointed the new Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships. We have a challenging year ahead in fundraising and I am looking forward to trialling some new fundraising campaigns as well as continuing with the massively successful fundraising favourites such as the Big SleepOut and the St Basils Walk which have become hugely popular fixtures in loyal supporters calendars. “
Retiring Head of Fundraising Blair Kesseler had this to say of his fifteen years of working at St Basils,
“The years have introduced me to some wonderful people both at St Basils and outside supporters. I always say that the great thing about being a fundraiser is that you see people at their best, when they are giving not just money but of themselves. The biggest demonstration of this is the Annual Walking Challenge, now the biggest fundraising event in the history of St Basils raising over £90,000 in 2009! We call it a challenge because it really is, with hundreds of people attempting 28 miles over rough ground in a day. Physically and mentally that takes some doing and seeing them arriving back at the control centre limping but smiling is inspirational!”
The challenge Lucy now faces is to raise over half a million pounds to help St Basil to sustain its level of innovative and important support services for the young people of Birmingham, Solihull, Redditich and North Worcestershire.
The National Centre of Excellence in preventing youth homelessness the charity welcomes and depends on the support of local people and the business community.
