Official Opening Milner Court
MILNER COURT OFFICIAL OPENING Was held on April 22 2008 St Basils first 2008 Major Event Reopening and dedication of Milner Court 110 St Andrews Road, Bordesley, Birmingham B94NA
Home Sweet Home re-opens for young people who are in urgent need of accommodation.
St Basils closed ‘The NEW BOOT’, the male emergency accommodation project based in Bordesley, Birmingham in January 2007 and relocated residents and staff to a temporary project in South Birmingham. We started a massive £1.5M refurbishment funded through the Housing Corporation. The year long development is now complete and residents have already relocated from the temporary project.
The newly improved building will officially reopen in April 2008 and will be rededicated to Les Milner the founder of St Basils over 35 years ago. Milner Court will now house 25 young people in self contained flats of the highest quality and with up to the minute facilities including individual rooms with en-suite showers and a fully fitted ICT suite and training kitchen.
With access to a whole range of St Basils services young people age 16 to 25 will have a decent base to work from to gain skills and training for independence for the future.
The National Centre of Excellence in tackling youth homelessness, St Basils continues to share good practice across the country and to provide flagship services and accommodation to young people in the West Midlands.
