St Basils new Private Rental scheme places first tenants

Kidderminster based Estate Agents Farlow Estates have been working with the St Basils mYPlace Private Rented Scheme in Wyre Forest. The mYPlace scheme which launched in May 2011 aims to help young people aged 18-25 secure good quality accommodation in the Wyre Forest private rented sector.

The project offers a range of intensive and flexible support services to both landlords and tenants in order to help create sustainable tenancies to benefit all parties. This includes providing the Rent Deposit, usually to the value of the first four weeks rent. It also includes rent in advance which the tenants then pay back over two years, making it an affordable housing venture.

MyPlace Co-ordinator, Jayne Russell, confirmed; “The first two young people to be placed, aged 22 and 23, moved in to their own tenancy on 9th August 2011. The new tenants both seem really pleased with the two bed flat that the mYPlace scheme has found for them and are now both working hard on making it a home.”

The newly moved in tenants said:

“This is 100% better than our old place; we at least know where we are going to be living.”

“It’s quiet here, there is no hassle from any neighbours and it’s really affordable.”

“Its home.”

mYPlace are working closely with other support agencies to help ensure the tenants manage to sustain their tenancies. These include Stonham, Wyre Forest Nightstop, Wyre Forest District Council & Community Housing, Connexions and Newstart, which is a furniture regeneration Project based in Bromsgrove.
