Young residents at a St Basils supported accommodation project based in Aston, were the grateful recipients of a very generous food donation from a Harvest Festival assembly at St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Handsworth Birmingham. Staff went along to St Mary’s to give a special thank you to all of the children and staff on behalf of all the project's residents. One young resident accompanied staff to this assembly to say a personal thank you and shared a bit about the circumstances which led to him becoming homeless and accessing St Basils services.
Candice Francis, Senior Worker at the project said; "His words were an encouragement and an inspiration to the children and to the staff. I was very proud to see him step out with such confidence in front of so many people and also demonstrate his desire to see young people thrive and succeed".

Young residents from St Basils make regular visits like this to a variety of local schools as part of the Schools Training and Mentoring Project (STAMP), which help raise awareness of homelessness and where young people can go for help, but also assists with the personal development of our young people, to give them opportunities to present their own perspective on homelessness and their experiences.
We would like to thank all the local schools who donated food to our young people during Harvest Festival, including St Benedicts School, St Vincent's School, Bridge Special School, Timberley School, Colmers Farm School, Charford First School, Banners Gate School and the many more that donated direct to our Supported Accommodation Projects.
