This is personal account from a young person who received 'floating support' from St Basils Bromsgrove project staff:
"I was living in a residential college for some time before moving in to my own place for the first time.I was housed in Alvechurch due to my family being nearby.Other professionals felt this was in my best interests without giving me the choice.I moved into my new property but I wasn’t able to manage my bills so I started to have financial trouble.
My Social Worker then contacted St Basils to try and get me some support to help me maintain my tenancy.After being accepted, St Basils helped me contact my creditors and make arrangements to pay off my debts, as well as offering me support to claim benefits I didn’t know I was entitled to.
The support I have received has helped me no end!While receiving this service I have come up against barriers which I have had to tackle.Without the support of St Basils, I would not have managed to overcome them.
I have made other progress with the support of St Basils. With their encouragement I took part in the Princes Trust 12 week team challenge and Professional Futures, which gave me a real sense of achievement.
With the help of St Basils I have come out a much more confident person.I have also found a job which I enjoy and have been successful in; I have recently been promoted.I would not have been able to achieve what I have today without the support from St Basils.
I would like to thank the staff at St Basils for the support I have received; it has changed my life for the better".
