One of St Basils main aims is to prevent homelessness so we have a range of services to help young people who are having problems or difficulties before those issues esculate into a crisis where they may find themselves homeless.
To do this we have a designated 24/7 Youth helpline called Youthline for anyone who is experiencing problems at home, or wants some advice. This is also the first point of call for any young person wanting to access any of St Basils other services.
We have a Family Mediation service to help young people and their parents or guardians discuss any issues at home which may be impacting upon the young person.
For those who find themselves at risk of homelessness or actually homeless Youthline will arrange an appointment to attend our Youth Hub for an assessment. Depending on factors such as the age of the young person, several different assessments may be necessary.
We also have a Schools information service where we go into schools to talk to young people of secondary school age to discuss the various causes of homelessness and make them aware of St Basils services should they need advice in the future.
