Job Purpose

This exciting new role is a first for St Basils.  Having developed a successful volunteer programme to support our Rewriting Futures - Fairchance funded programme, our vision is to extend what we have learned by growing our volunteering programme throughout all our sites in the West Midlands.  Partnership working is crucial to this role as you will also lead on improving our existing relationships and building new relationships with colleges and universities to generate revenues for funded student placements.  To be truly effective, we are recruiting for a dedicated person to take ownership of these programmes and step them up a gear.

Part of the wider HR family, we are a forward-thinking, small but energetic team of four with a clear mission: to support the continued growth of our regional and national ambitions.  You will be innovative and be able to think outside the box.  You will champion the wider HR agenda but more importantly be pragmatic and able to sell the business case for developing our programmes organisational wide.  You will lead in the development of our volunteer policy and practice, oversee implementation, engage and support our volunteers and measure the business outcomes.  We’ve laid the foundations so far, but we are just at the start of our journey.

 You will flourish in this role if you are:

  • A highly enthusiastic and autonomous professional;
  • Passionate about the difference volunteering can make in the world;
  • Educated to degree level, CIPD qualified or possess equivalent experience or qualifications;
  • A confident and inspiring colleague with a passion for bringing out the best in people;
  • An excellent communicator with good coaching skills and a track record of building authentic, trust-based relationships at all levels;
  • Comfortable with quickly and routinely alternating between competing priorities, while thinking creatively to deliver rapidly changing business objectives;
  • Skilled with data management, numeracy and statistics;
  • Confident, fast, resilient and flexible;
  • A courageous and constructive status-quo challenger.

Please note: CVs are not accepted.

Date for assessment centre: Thursday 15th March 2018.  Successful candidates will be invited to attend interviews on the afternoon.
